Every year many Sport Horse contestants arrive in Woodbury, TN to compete  in the last Sport Horse show before the World Championship begins. This year was no different as many familiar and new faces arrived for an afternoon of fun and Competition on September 22, 2001.

This year the show kept with the tradition of a mix of Sport Horse and fun classes. Just a few of the classes included were a Trail Obstacle course, team penning, shotgunning, water glass class, running and saddle around the barrels and poles, pantyhose race, Pylon alley, and a favorite, Broom Polo. The colt-in hand class was added for the first time this year and was a hit as many new faces and colts tried this class for the first time. Many of them are now making plans to attend the World Championship in November.

This year with each entry a contestant's name was dropped in the hat for a drawing at the end of the night for a beautiful Custom JMP Arena Saddle made by J. Black.  The winner this year was Ryan Haley of Woodbury, TN. Being just 8 years old he is a new comer to riding and to SSHBEA Sport Horse, but plans to use his winning saddle in many Sport Horse events for years to come.

The JMP Arena and SSHBEA Sport Horse Committee would like to thank all the participants, judges, and people who helped to make this show a success. For more information on how you can become a SSHBEA Sport Horse participant or sponsor, please contact the SSHBEA office or any Sport Horse committee member.
