SSHBEA Represented at Alabama Horse Fair
MONTGOMERY, AL –
The Spotted Saddle Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association was represented in the Alabama Horse Fair in Montgomery, Alabama on January 26 and 27, 2002 by the Alabama Spotted Saddle Horse Association.
The Alabama Horse Fair chose to demonstrate the 35 different breeds with a total of 55 horses by dividing them into various classes as if in a horse show. There were halter classes, western classes, English classes, driving classes and a barrel class. As horses participated in the class a description of the breed and a short history of the actual horse was read by the announcer. Linda Lashley presented her black and white tobiano mare, Gypsy Ink Spot, in the western Class and also did the Barrels "in gait". Donald and Angie Mims of Colorfulgait Farms in Boaz, AL brought their black and white tobiano stallion Paint’s Roosters Revenge and participated in halter and in a western Class. Both the mare and the stallion were also available in the stall area for the two days of the fair where spectators could get "up close and personal" and pick up information on SSHBEA as well as ask questions of Lashley and the Mims.
SSHBEA provided written materials as well as their professionally created exhibitor booth backdrop. This backdrop displayed various pictures of spotted saddle horses in a variety of activities. The booth included business cards, pencils, bumper stickers, key rings and pins for spectators to take for their use. There were T-shirts and hats displayed with order forms available. Instructions on registration and enrollment on various programs were there in good supply. Members of the ASSHA manned the booth and those who actually worked in the booth were Denny & Lynn Creel, Janet Craft, Debbie Hill and Sabine Flora. Those who gave of their time were rewarded with T-shirts and hats.
