Minutes of July 19, 2005 SSHBEA Board of Directors Meeting
At 7:02P.M. on July 19, 2005, Travis Kelley called the SSHBEA Board of Directors meeting to order and asked Janice Higgins to call the roll. She did so and all were present except John Mohon, Maude Hopkins, Janie Rowland, Day Meyer, Krista Smith, Brenda Wright and Freda Wassom who had all called the office. The minutes had been mailed and Mark Cutlip made the motion to approve them, Aaron Crafton seconded, motion passed.Travis introduced Sharon McGee who was present to talk about PSSHTA licensing. The topic was concerning model/halter horse/colt trainers not being able to ride amateur, if they don’t train riding horses and most don’t train both, could the professional trainers’ license be split into two categories: halter and under saddle? She was asking for our comments and opinions. The consensus was for Sharon to present this proposal to the trainers and see what their take is on it.
Travis thanked the Fund Raiser Committee and reported they cleared $10,773 for SSHBEA on the July 4th Kubota give-a-way.
Travis asked for suggestions on how to get horses back in our shows.
Mark Cutlip made a motion that in 2006, SSHBEA initiate a double & triple point program for the high point division for the Spring & Fall Shows and other shows to be decided on working with the show committees. Freda Bullard seconded, motion passed.
Travis asked Johnny to rewrite the way we replace a vacated board seat and the date we have our Annual meeting and present these proposed by-law changes to the next board meeting.
Next Aaron took the floor and presented the financial report. He reported he wanted to combine all the SSHBEA accounts. Combining the Youth Council account with the rest, met with opposition. Aaron Crafton made the motion to combine the magazine and the general account, Freda Bullard seconded, motion passed. Aaron went over the outstanding debts. Johnny Smith made the motion to approve the Financial Report, Freda Bullard seconded, motion passed. Bob Wright asked that enough Corporate Sponsor money be transferred to the Spring Show to make it break even.
Next Bob Wright asked for suggestions on procedure to reinstate the judges that were not approved for their SSHBEA license for 2005. After discussion, Sis Osborne made the motion that as of January 1, 2006 any of the judges in question can re-apply for their license. Kathy Baker seconded, motion passed.
Freda Bullard made a motion to remove the word "rhinestone" from rule 15.9.A. Mark Cutlip seconded, motion passed.
Bob Wright made the motion to give FWRHA (Florida) a $100 sponsor. Freda Bullard seconded, motion passed.
Kathy Baker made the motion to adjourn, Sis Osborne seconded, motion passed.
