Minutes of the August 15, 2006 SSHBEA Board of Directors Meeting

At 7:00PM on August 15, 2006, Travis Kelley called the SSHBEA Board  of Directors Meeting to order and asked Janice Higgins to call the roll.  All were present except Dan Meyer, Mark Cutlip and Tammy Coffman who had notified the office and Freda Wassom, who had not notified the office.  Janice then read the minutes from the last meeting and Judy Hooker made the motion to approve the minutes, Roy Franklin seconded, motion passed.

Travis reported there is a saddle in the office that the Out of State committee bought last year for a raffle and no tickets were ever sold. (The chairperson of the committee was injured in an accident). He asked what we could do with it.  It was decided that it would be added to the Ladies Auxiliary Silent auction at the fall show.

After discussion, Sis Osborne made the motion to rescind the motion made in March about not judging the lead line classes due to loss of interest, effective as of the ’06 Fall Show the class will be judged, Judy Hooker seconded, motion passed.

On Saturday, August 26, Travis & Aaron are planning to change the flag pole ropes, wash the front of the building and a few other odd jobs and he asked for a couple more volunteers.  Johnny Smith volunteered to help for a while and would bring some help with him.

Travis is still working on the speaker for the Cowboy Church , 9:00 , Sunday September 24, and the cook-out will start at 11:00 the same day.

Aaron Crafton presented the Financial Report – we are about $100 off from 2005.  Everything is looking good.  Sis Osborne made the motion to approve the financial report, Janie Rowland seconded, motion passed.  Aaron reminded all committee heads that it’s getting time to think about their budget and he wants more than one line.  Travis reported it cost $150,000 to put on the Fall Show.

Next we drew names for the Fall Show judges – the first few were:  Benny Johnson, Roy Franklin, Phil Dunivan, Don Woodson, Sid Baker, Lynne Jones, Holly Liddell & Harold Johnson.   Roy Franklin declined on the spot.

Travis reported that Dr. Behre came to the Summer Classic around class 22, watched the show for a while and checked 1 horse, and told Travis we looked good.

Judy Hooker read the criteria for the Hall of Fame nominations with no changes.  It was decided the nominations needed to be back into the office by October 15, 2006 .

Aaron reminded the board that the Bedford County Fair Board had wanted to do a show with SSHBEA.  The deal would be for SSHBEA to get the sponsors, so this did not fly.  SSHBEA would be willing to do all the other jobs of the show other than sponsors.

Freda Bullard made the motion to adjourn at 8:00PM , Johnny Smith seconded, motion passed.
