Minutes of 12/20/05 SSHBEA Board of Directors Meeting
At 7:10PM on 12/20/05, Travis Kelley called the SSHBEA Board of Directors meeting to order and asked Janice Higgins to call the roll. All were present except Maude Hopkins, Janie Rowland and Dan Meyer who had all called the office to report their absence. The minutes had been mailed and Sis Osborne made the motion to approve them, Judy Hooker seconded, motion passed.
Travis reported our computer person has a phone system for around $2,000. Our phone system is in bad need of being updated.
Travis also informed the board we had an inquiry on selling our property. Johnny Smith made the motion to have an appraisal done of our property. Mark Cutlip seconded, motion passed.
Travis asked Johnny Smith if he had written up a policy for problem transfers as he had been tasked to do. Johnny had forgotten about it, and would have it at the next regular meeting.
Aaron Crafton next presented the 2006 Budget. He had a projected income of $55,500 for the next year. After much discussion and many questions, Bob Wright made the motion to approve the budget, Mark Cutlip seconded, motion passed. Then Aaron went over the November Financial Report. Johnny Smith made the motion to approve the financial report, Sis Osborne seconded, motion passed. Bob Wright made the motion to move the earmarked money from the Celebration corporate sponsor to Sweepstakes ($500) and Sport Horse ($1,000). Freda Bullard seconded, motion passed. There was discussion about the list of people that have overdue accounts and the fact that some people had shown at the fall show with 90 day or more overdue accounts.
We had 7 nominations letters for the Hall of Fame. Nominations were for J. W. Higgins, Peggy Moore, Maude Hopkins, Bobby McNatt, Travis Kelley, Don Bridges and Robert Morgan. After the vote, J.W. Higgins, Peggy Moore and Maude Hopkins received the number of required votes to be inducted into the SSHBEA Hall of Fame.
Concern was expressed about our records if we were to have a fire.
Janice Prince had a problem transfer. The person had bought a horse and did not receive the SSHBEA papers with the horse, but they had discovered that the horse was registered with SSHBEA. The present owner had furnished all the required paperwork Janice had asked her to supply to get a copy of the papers. Sis Osborne made the motion to transfer the horse and give her a set of papers. Bob Wright seconded, motion passed.
Sis Osborne made the motion to adjourn, Freda Bullard seconded, motion passed.
