Minutes of the May 21, 2007 SSHBEA Board of Directors Meeting

 

          On May 21, 2007 at 7:05P.M. , Bob Wright called the SSHBEA Board of Directors meeting to order and asked Janice Higgins to call the roll.  All were present except Dan Meyer, Cindy Haley, Tamara Sullivan, Doug Herring and Dickie Gardner who had notified the office of their absence. Bob read a letter from Doug Herring stating his absence was due to medical problems.  Bob then asked Aaron to lead us in prayer.  He next asked Janice Higgins to read the minutes.  They were approved as read. 

 

          Bobby McDaniels, the Judges Committee Chairman, was present and reported the judges committee was recommending Wayne Abee and Jeff Crosslin for their judge’s license.  Both were approved.  Bobby reported Cornersville was having their SSHBEA show June 9. 

 

          Bob had a notice from Tennessee Farmers Coop that they would make a donation to SSHBEA for every tube(s) of Zimecterin or Zimectern Gold purchased from them during April, May and June.  The purchaser must submit copy of invoice and proof of purchase to the Lavergne office.  Johnny Smith made the motion to approve of the deal with the Coop on the wormer.  Kim McMahan seconded, motion passed. 

 

          Some racking horse people had asked SSHBEA to change our Fall Show date back to the original time.  After discussion Johnny Smith made the motion to leave it on the new date as we had it in 2006.  Kim McMahan seconded, motion passed. 

 

          Next discussion went back to the Kentucky/Rocky Mountain Horse discussion from prior meetings.  After lengthy discussion Johnny Smith made a motion to leave as is, accepting the TWH, RH and NSSHA.  Johnny rescinded his motion.  Tammy Coffman made a motion that we open this up to include the linage, without the registration numbers, of other organizations.  Tammy withdrew her motion.  Ronnie Sapp suggested accepting the 3 organizations wanted by Bobby McNatt.  Johnny Smith made the same motion as before, to leave as is, accept the TWH, RH and NSSHA.  Kasey Kesselring seconded, motion passed. 

 

          Bob asked if any advertising had been done on the new open books policy.  Sis Osborne made the motion to do a Market Place ad in the Voice magazine.  Johnny Smith seconded, motion passed. 

 

          Johnny Smith made the motion to give the Tennessee 4-H their normal $1,000 donation, Freda Bullard seconded, motion passed.  Sis Osborne made the motion to give Doyle Meadows a plaque for his retirement, Roy Franklin seconded, motion passed. 

         

          Bob asked for a volunteer to head up the Hi-Point committee.  After no one stepped up, Bob appointed Janie Rowland, Janice Higgins, Aaron Crafton, Linda Bedwell and Kasey Kesselring.  Maybe it could be done in-house next year. 

 

          Johnny Smith made the motion to order 1,000 new rule books for $3,500, Aaron Crafton seconded, motion passed with 1 no vote, Kasey Kesselring. 

 

          Bob stated he thought we needed to reimburse Dan Meyer again this year for his participation and representation of SSHBEA in 3 different horse fairs.  Dan has not mentioned this. 

 

          Aaron Crafton then presented the Financial Report.  We had made money again this month.  Our biggest expense so far is the Spring Show.  Ideas were thrown out on how to do the program different to save on expenses.  Tammy Coffman is to research the possibilities.  Tammy Coffman suggested changing the package offered to corporate sponsors and offering something on the website to them in the new package.  Kasey Kesselring offered someone he knows to help with printing of the program.  Kasey Kesselring made the motion to approve the Financial Report, Ronnie Sapp seconded, motion passed.  Aaron had passed out a “Passed Due Policy” and Kasey Kesselring made the motion to accept the policy as presented.  Maude Hopkins seconded, motion passed. (See Attached)  Aaron reported we had about $9,000 to be written off. 

 

          Johnny Smith reported that the judges committee recommends the word moderate be taken out of the description of the Traditional Trail Pleasure rule.  After discussion, Johnny made the above a motion.  Ronnie Sapp seconded, motion passed.  Johnny reported the judges committee put letters in 2 Spring Show judge’s files on tying horses shaking their head in Country Trail Pleasure classes.  Another letter was put in a Spring Show judge’s file for tying a horse that did not canter on the right lead one way of the ring. 

 

          The Trail Pleasure committee asked for double points for the Summer Classic.  Johnny Smith made the motion to allow this, Ronnie Sapp seconded, motion passed.  Any show personnel must ask for double points if they want their show to award them for the rest of the year.

 

          Ronnie Sapp made the motion to change the board meeting to the 2nd Monday.  Aaron Crafton seconded, motion passed.  

 

          Johnny Smith made the motion to adjourn, Sis Osborne seconded, motion passed.
