Minutes of the June 11, 2007 SSHBEA Board of Directors Meeting

            At 7:05PM on June 11, 2007 , Bob Wright called the SSHBEA Board of Directors meeting to order and he asked Kasey Kesselring to lead us in prayer.  Bob then asked Janice Higgins to call the roll.  All were present except Ronnie Sapp, Doug Herring and Sis Osborne who had notified the office and Tammy Coffman who did not notify the office.  She then read the minutes of the last meeting, Kasey Kesselring made the motion to approve them, motion passed.  Andy Hagewood read a thank you card from Lynn Dropka concerning the death of Johnny Smith.  Bob welcomed Don Woodson, who will be taking the board seat vacated by Johnny’s death. 

            Aaron Crafton presented the financial report – we are off some on our income, but our expenses are down.  Bob asked for the budget to be compared with actual for ’06 & ’07 at the next meeting.  The bad debts will be written off at the end of June.  Dan Meyer made the motion to approve the financial report, Mark Cutlip seconded, motion passed. 

            Andy Hagewood was present and representing the Judges committee.  He informed the board that the committee is recommending Travis Kelley and David Oliver for their regular judge’s license.  Both were approved.

            Andy also recommended Don Woodson for Johnny Smith’s replacement on the Judges Committee.  Don was approved. 

            Francis Taylor had requested the affiliation fee be waived for their horse show called Leigh Ann’s Horses for Attachment.  This is a physically challenged riding group.   After discussion, Mark Cutlip made the motion to waive the fees, Cindy Haley seconded, motion passed. 

            Dan Meyer asked for Debbie Birk to be approved as their guest judge for their Illinois SSHBEA show on June 16.  Janice Higgins made the motion to approve Debbie, Roy Franklin seconded, motion passed. 

            The next topic of discussion was Double Points.  One question was “do the sanctioned shows receive double points”?  Brenda Wright had asked for double points for the Summer Classic (affiliated).  Gordon Hirschi had asked for a Denver Colorado show (sanctioned) to have double points.  Freda Bullard made the motion that a show has to be affiliated to receive double points.   Kasey Kesselring seconded, motion passed with 2 opposing votes – Janice and Dan. 

            Cindy Haley made the motion to advertise the new ‘Tobiano Registration Rule” in the Trail Rider magazine.  Tamara Sullivan seconded, motion passed with 1 opposing vote – Aaron. 

            Dan Meyer asked for the board to try to think of new things to do for our out of state members and to promote the Spotted Saddle Horse.  Freda Bullard asked to check to see if out-of-state shows could use other HIO DQP’s. 

            Dan Meyer proposed we do a plaque as a tribute to all of our fallen board members to display in the office and made this motion.  Mark Cutlip seconded, motion passed.   

            Roy Franklin reported that Travis Kelley has volunteered to step into Johnny Smith’s place in helping to sell belt buckles for the fall show. 

            Kasey Kesselring made the motion to put a thank you in the next news-letter to the Illinois group for all the hard work they have put forth in representing SSHBEA at the horse fairs they have attended and send them an official letter also.  Kim McMahan seconded, motion passed. 

            Don Woodson made the motion to adjourn, motion seconded and passed.

            A moment of silence was held in honor of Johnny Smith.
