Minutes of the
At
Mack
reported he was involved in a conference call a few days ago with all the
HIO’s and the USDA. The USDA has
sent a request for SSHBEA and all other HIO’s to accept the show report that
they said the HIO’s came up with (the HIO’s did not come up with it).
A few of the HIO’s want total # of entries and total # of horses
reported from each show to compare with # of horses that are turned down to make
the percentage higher. There are
600+ people on suspension with TWH.
Janice
Prince questioned the info that is to be sent to the membership educating them
about the yearly election and
voting. She questioned the word
‘may’ toward the end of sentence 1 of eligibility to vote – should it be
‘will’ instead – the board agreed. The
date earlier voted on for the ballot to be postmarked by is ”November 30 and
returned to the CPA”. Sis Osborne
made the motion to make the above mentioned change along with adding that the
ballot must be “received by the CPA by December 15” or it will not be
counted. Motion seconded and passed.
The date dues are paid and if there is a grace period was discussed –
the rule book states there is a 90 day grace period.
Aaron
Crafton next presented the financial report.
Income is up about $3,000 over last year and expenses are way down.
Jennifer Broadhurst made the motion to accept the Financial Report, Bob
Wright seconded, motion passed.
Mack
turned the floor over to Jimmy Taylor, chairman of the Judges Committee.
Jimmy reported that Terry Stone never signed for his registered letter
concerning taking the polygraph test and Grandy Tuck did sign for his but never
responded, so the Judges committee recommended that a letter be sent to them and
the National Horseshow Commission stating that due to their (Terry & Grandy)
lack of interest and corporation with SSHBEA, we no longer need or require their
services as judges. Doug Herring
made the motion to approve this recommendation, Aaron Crafton seconded, motion
passed. Mack said he would like for
the board to approve this letter before it is sent.
The judges committee recommends Harry Dean Hobbs for his master judge’s
license. Sis Osborne made the motion
to approve Harry Dean, Freda Bullard seconded, motion passed.
The committee recommends Chad Hillis and Jamie Walls for their regular
judge’s license. Jennifer
Broadhurst made the motion to approve them, Dickie Gardner seconded, motion
passed. Jimmy informed the board
that several judges taking the open book test are missing several (7-12)
questions. The committee is
requiring these people to take the test again.
Tiffany
Hartwig, Youth Council sponsor was present and Mack introduced her next.
A lady in
Bob
Wright extended congratulations to Tiffany Hartwig and Amber Alexander –
president of the SSHBEA Youth Council for a job well done so far this year –
their net income for the year is $3200.
Jennifer
Broadhurst passed out a rough draft of the request for donations letter to be
sent to the membership. Some parts
were deleted (sponsorship paragraph and levels of donations info) and where to
mail a donation was added. Ronnie
Sapp made the motion to approve the letter with changes, Sis Osborne seconded,
motion passed.
Janice
Higgins asked the board to sponsor the Ladies Auxiliary show championship class
for $250. Roy Franklin made this
motion, Jennifer Broadhurst seconded, motion passed.
Roy
Franklin (and other board members) had many request to reinstate the fall show
to 8 days. There was lengthy
discussion about this but the show will remain 6 days for 2008.
Sis
Osborne made the motion to send flowers for Sally Wright’s mother.
All agreed.
Sis
Osborne made the motion to adjourn, Roy Franklin seconded, motion passed.
