*There are 10 main events offered by S.S.H.B.E.A. Sport Horse. *Timed Events- Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, and Jumping *Agility Events- Trail Obstacles, Competitive Trail Rides, Reining, and Hunting classes *Cattle Classes- Teampenning, Shotgunning, and Stock-Yard Sorting *Other classes, such as Saddle around the Barrels and Poles, may be offered but may not count for points. For full rules on each event, please refer to the S.S.H.B.E.A. Rule Book.
AGES & SKILL Sport Horse offers classes for all Ages and Skill levels, for both the horse and rider. There are classes offered for the 11 and Under age group and the 12 to 17 age group. New in 2005 there are FREE Leadline 6 & Under classes, offered in Trail Obstacle, Barrels Racing, and Pole Bending and for the older "kids" a Ladies 45 and men 50 and over classes are offered in Barrel racing and Pole Bending. For the horses there are designated 2 year old classes, and the weanlings and yearlings have their very own In-Hand Trail Obstacle class. For those new to Versatility or with a New Horse there are Non-Point classes labeled as Non-Pro.
WHERE S.S.H.B.E.A. Sport Horse puts on two large shows in TN. This year one in April, Spring Round-up, to kick off the season, and one in November, The World Championship, to end out the season. There are several one day shows and weekend events put on throughout the season, by the Sport Horse committee, State Clubs, and by civic organizations. During the 2006 season, look for shows in Tennessee, Georgia, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, and several other states. Go to the Show Sheet Section to view upcoming shows.
AWARDS On top of many Blue Ribbons, Sport Horse contestants may also compete for S.S.H.B.E.A. Yearly Points Awards and World Champion Hi-Point Awards. Yearly Point Awards are given by S.S.H.B.E.A. at the Annual Banquet for the horse in each division with the most points gathered over the Season. The Divisions are Col-in Hand, 11 & Under, 12 to 17 year olds, 2 year olds, and for the Open contenders Agility, Cattle, and Speed. The World Champion Hi-Point Awards are given at the end of the World Championship Show in November. These awards are based on points earned only during the World Championship. The Categories for these awards are 11 & Under, 12 to 17 years old, 2 year olds, Mare, Stallion, and Gelding, and new in 2003, Non-Pro. Then a Hi-Point World Grand Champion is named from the winners of the Mare, Stallion, and Gelding categories. The World Championship Colt-In Hand Trail Obstacle class Awards special recognition to the winner of this class with a Belt Buckle. For full rules on these Awards please refer to the S.S.H.B.E.A.
